This walk started at Pak Tam Chung (start of Maclehose trail) and followed a road for about 6klms along the "near" side of High Island Reserviour straight to the beaches about half way along stage 2.

The weather was good, though a little warm and my achillies was still giving me heaps from the previous weekend. After about an hour and a half (given that some had to stop for a cigarette break - ahhh!!!), we arrived at the beachside cafe for a big feed of noodles and stuff.

The water was inviting, and while Tony set up his kites for a quick fly, a couple of us took to the sea for a refreshing dip. An hour or so later we took off again, over the hills and to another store. Running a little behind time, we phoned ahead to Pepperonni's to let them know we'd be late. A final 15 minute slog (for some) up the last hill, and then down to the speed boats for the short cut to the bus stop. Just as we were arriving at the boats the heaven's opened on us, soaking one and all. I bet we looked a sorry bunch on that bus!

Pepperonni's turned on a great meal, and Bill, Antonia, Tanya and Rob met us for what turned out to be a big party. Ice cold Crown Lager was served, and was it good!! The apple crumble was also delicious, even if we did have to go to Park 'n' Shop for our own ice cream.

Four of us who still had a little in reserve went and watched "The 5th Element", though why I'll never know because I thought it was very ordinary indeed.
