Christmas 2001

Story.

Building upon and idea from Mom and Kelly Nason from years gone by, Laurie and Shane decided to contribute to a senior's home for Christmas.  Krista Jolly at the Santa Cruz HealthCare Center readily accepted Laurie's offer to put together goodie bags for 100 residents in the home.  So Laurie set to work collecting candies, baking cookies and tracking down small mandarin oranges for the bags.  The week before December 24th, Laurie set to work baking.  On Wednesday night we accepted an invite to spend 4 days in Lake Tahoe which sent Laurie into a tailspin trying to get everything done in the mornings and evenings (before and after work).  That meant the 'drop-off' of the 100 bags had to be on Friday - 3 whole days early.

Enduring name calling of 'bag lady' and 'elf with an attitude' we continued on. Thursday evening Laurie's friend Kim came over to spend 5 hours "bagging".  Eventually we had an assembly line going, but initially all the cookies had to be placed in Christmas themed muffin cups and then wrapped in plastic wrap.  Once that was done everything fell into place.  Thank goodness for Kim as she came up with some excellent ideas on how to package the bags and everything turned out great!!!!
