This photo was taken on the night Laurie and I were engaged (January 19). Our engagement was a fantastically simple, impromptu event, during dinner with Simon and Alexis at Amichi's restaurant. Amici's is a great BYO Italian place in Gladstone.

Earlier that same afternoon I had taken Laurie, Simon and Alexis on a flight over Curtis Island (including Yellow Patch).

On January 13 Simon and I got up at the ungodly hour of 3:30 to try out his new canoe on this great-looking saltwater creek. Despite casting for hours we failed to raise a scale. It does make those successful trips all the more enjoyable though.
